Something for Nothing? Who doesn’t love a cheeky freebie. We do. They are hard to resist. Getting something for nothing is a real winner.
Here, we’re talking about the full benefit of an in the room CPD. Making the effort to rock up in person can feel like a big waste of time. Why bother? We know, it really can feel like a faff. We know. So, what extra juice are you getting for the extra effort.
Well, whatever CPD Essentials is called upon to deliver, be it the development of a new inhouse CPD property training event, or a regular face to face regional CPD day, we do so with focus, care and attention to detail. But what initially feels like a bit of a faff, can provide some hidden advantages our attendees gain free of charge, simply by being in the room. Yes, free. Imagine.
Apart from getting some of the best of the best professional CPD available to chartered surveyors, here are a few of the extra Something for Nothing benefits you get from coming into the room and actually enjoying our learning options.
Attending events organised by CPD Essentials can raise your profile as a business. You will very likely be in a room of circa 100+ people, who are active in your professional field. A good piece of professional visibility with those that matter most.
At our events, you will hear from some industry experts in their chosen field. We continually search out the best of the best on the subjects that matter to you as surveyors – trees, money laundering, professional liability to name just three. Being in the room gives you direct access to the speakers so that you can chat in confidence on that thorny problem you have on your desk right now. And obtain a candid reply. Invaluable.
The impromptu chat with a fellow delegate at lunch or a meeting with your own regional team can allow the conversation that wasn’t planned to flow. Shared experiences discussed, live projects explored, impromptu meets. Not a primary reason for attending, but another clear benefit of coming along to a face to face CPD Essentials event. The formal learning is only part of the story.
Stepping away from the email, the phone and the daily grind is full investment in you and your chartership. You spent thousands becoming a chartered surveyor and you’re at the top of your profession. So create the space for your learning. Come into the room and reboot your expertise. Your knowledge bank is our main priority. Plus, we don’t bite.

After many wonderful years running CPD Essentials, Alison has decided it’s time to hang up her boots and enjoy a well-earned break. It’s the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new and exciting chapter.
From the very start, Alison has poured her energy, knowledge, and heart into CPD Essentials, creating something special that’s helped so many surveyors keep up with their continuing professional development. From in-person CPD training days to live webinars tailored to the needs of property professionals, Alison made it easy for surveyors to stay compliant, confident, and up to date.
It’s been a one-woman show, planning CPD events, curating expert speakers, and managing all the logistics, and now she’s passing it all on to someone who knows the business inside and out: her daughter, Megan.
Megan has been part of the journey behind the scenes for a little while now, and she’s now stepping forward to take the lead. She’ll be continuing everything you’ve come to expect from CPD Essentials, including in-person CPD events for surveyors, online CPD webinars, and that same friendly, personal approach that’s been there from the start.
“It means a lot to be taking this on from Mum,” says Megan. “She’s built something really valuable, and I’m proud to keep it going. I’m looking forward to bringing my own ideas to the mix, but keeping the same straightforward, high-quality and affordable CPD that surveyors know and appreciate.”
Alison is now stepping away fully, but her influence and hard work will always be part of CPD Essentials. Megan is excited (and just a little nervous!) to take on the challenge, and she’s grateful for your continued support as she finds her feet.
Whether you’re looking for RICS-compliant CPD hours, a reliable CPD programme for surveyors, or simply a down-to-earth place to stay informed, Megan and CPD Essentials are here to help.
Here’s to new beginnings, and to keeping CPD simple, useful, and human.

Some sources claim that UK property sales are ‘down an average of 25% since the increases in interest rates and that further increases could reduce demand.
However it is also claimed that approvals for mortgages rose in February and that demand for property may be back on the rise.
Bank of England figures showed that home loan approvals rose from 39,647 in January to 43,536 in February – reversing a downward trend in place since August 2022.
The question is – will levels return to those seen during the pandemic?
