Tom Balch is a director of Rose of Jericho, manufacturers and suppliers of traditional paints and lime mortars, plasters and renders for traditional and historic buildings.
Having studied history at the University of Bristol he was a recipient of the VCH Young Historian of the Year award. With colour, commercial and design experience gained in the print and media industries he has spent the past decade undertaking a variety of building conservation projects before joining Rose of Jericho in 2018. Tom has a lifelong passion for history and vernacular architecture and recently undertook a practical research project into methods of traditional brickmaking with wood fired clamp kilns. He works alongside Peter Ellis in undertaking historic material analysis and will be speaking about the importance of using appropriate paints on structures of solid wall construction.
