SUMMARY:Get ready for March 1st - the RICS home survey standard
DESCRIPTION:You will no doubt be aware of the new RICS home survey standard which was due to become mandatory for surveyors in June 2020. Due to COVID-19 it will now come into force on the 1 March 2021. The proposed changes aim to better protect buyers\, and sellers\, by making sure they fully understand the importance and benefits of commissioning a home survey and making it simpler for consumers to understand what is checked\, the different surveys on offer and the level of service delivered by RICS members. The aim is to ensure consistency in the types of survey offered necessitated by a changing market place\, updated technology and consumer needs. \nThis half day event is a follow up to the roadshows held across the UK between December and February last year\, contains different information and will update you on the latest thinking. There will be more emphasis on the process of the correct survey level being offered by surveyors\, particularly in light of the Hart v Large case. The HSS expects that the surveyor will advise the client/ enquirer of the levels offered by that firm\, and how they may be appropriate for the property itself\, and the client’s needs. \nThere is additional RICS material.
