SUMMARY:Fibre reinforcement to plasters – problems associated with natural hair and alternative fibres\, natural and synthetic.
DESCRIPTION:Mortar analysis\nTom Balch\, Rose of Jericho \nAnimal hair has been added to strengthen and reduce shrinkage in lime plasters for centuries. This reinforcement is particularly important when applying basecoat plaster to laths (especially ceiling laths) as it reinforces and strengthens the crucially important nibs from which the ceiling plaster ‘hangs’. The first ‘pricking-up’ coat traditionally contains hair reinforcement at a rate of at least 8kgs/m3 (c.4kgs/tonne). Subsequent coats to lathwork and all coats to solid backgrounds normally have hair added at the reduced rate of 5kgs/m3 (c.2.5kgs/tonne). \nHay and straw were sometimes used as alternatives\, but the vast majority of traditional basecoat plasters were reinforced with animal body hair from horse\, cow\, pig or goat. When examining dry historic plaster it is normal to find hair reinforcement present and apparently in good condition. However\, recent analytical work is suggesting that some degradation and loss of tensile strength can occur over time. \nThis degradation appears to occur more rapidly in currently available animal hair. The vast majority of animal hair is now imported in neat bundles from countries where anthrax is a problem\, and the hair is cleaned and sterilised in the country of origin to ensure any bacteria spores are destroyed. This treatment\, which can include boiling and/or steam treating\, appears to decrease the resistance to degradation and reduce the durability of the hair in the alkali lime environment. It is thought the protective keratin proteins and natural oils in the animal hair are depleted during the sterilisation treatment. \nDate: Wednesday 6 April \nTime: 1700 – 1800 \nPrice: £12 plus VAT (£14.40) or £130 plus VAT (£156) for the webicard which entitles you to attend the entire programme  from September to June at no additional cost (the webinars from September will be provided as recordings. \nOnline via zoom \nPlease book below or send me an email to alison@cpdessentials.co.uk \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent the link to join via zoom the day before \nAll webinars are recorded and can be viewed anytime after the event

SUMMARY:Easements and covenants
DESCRIPTION:Easements & covenants\n \nEasements and Covenants affect land and are a means of granting rights or imposing obligations over neighbouring land. It is necessary when buying or seeking to develop land to be clear as to what easements or covenants bind or benefit your land such as\, for example\, rights of way over a private road. \nSpeaker – Ian Quayle – IQ Legal Training \nIan has delivered over 1500 training courses (all property related) for city and regional firms\, local law societies\, and local authorities. His style and delivery is relaxed but he is able to explain the law and practical issues relating to the training topic in a way that ensures delegates learn or reinforce learning and derive meaningful benefit from the training provided. Feedback is always positive. \nDate: Thursday 29 September \nTime: 1700 – 1800 \nPrice: £12 .50 plus VAT (£15.00) or included in the webicard \nOnline via zoom \nPlease book below or send me an email to alison@cpdessentials.co.uk \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent the link to join via zoom the day before \nAll webinars are recorded and can be viewed anytime after the event

SUMMARY:Insolvency recovery planning
DESCRIPTION:Insolvency recovery planning\n \n  \nThe insolvency of a Principal Contractor or a key supply-chain partner part-way through a project can have devasting consequences. An insolvency event can result in significant financial losses\, build quality issues\, and widespread delays and disruption.\nMany of these issues can be mitigated by effective planning and ensuring that the protection measures will perform as expected. \nWhat is an Insolvency Recovery Plan?\nAn Insolvency Recovery Plan provides a structured template to pre-plan for an insolvency event. The plans act like a ‘lifeboat drill’ to ensure that the protection measures are adequate – and that everyone in the team knows how they work.\nThey can be prepared at any stage of a development project – it’s never too early or too late to instigate a recovery plan. They can be prepared prior to works commencing on site\, during the course of the works – or even after an insolvency event has occurred. \nSpeaker:  Richard Winson FRICS\, Protech Analytics \nRichard is an experienced chartered surveyor with extensive knowledge of property development risk and insolvency advisory. Richard has assisted insolvency practitioners with the ‘clear-up’ operations of several hundred contractor insolvencies – ranging from ‘one man band’ companies – right up to national construction companies. \nThe company has developed a series of proprietary due-diligence risk platforms to compliment traditional surveying skills. The platforms provide an effective ‘war room’ analysis of the projects\, and the performance of the associated supply-chain. The company provides a common-sense\, reliable and trustworthy service. \nProtech Analytics carries out specialist due-diligence services for a wide range of clients. These services cover property development projects\, principal contractor & sub-contractor business / performance reviews and ‘health-checks’.\nWe can also offer:\n• Contractor due-diligence for pre-qualification\, lending\, & M&A\n• Project monitoring services and development risk due-diligence\n• Risk workshops and training events\n• Supply-chain monitoring\n• Data analysis\, data visualisation\, and software development \nDate: Thursday 6 October \nTime: 1700 – 1800 \nPrice: £12 .50 plus VAT (£15.00) or included in the webicard \nOnline via zoom \nPlease book below or send me an email to alison@cpdessentials.co.uk \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will be sent the link to join via zoom the day before \nAll webinars are recorded and can be viewed anytime after the event
