He has undertaken professional surveying work throughout the United Kingdom\, Europe\, the Caribbean and the Emirates and Sultanate. He has inspected and advised upon the interpretation of liability under Landlord and Tenant legislation within the UK. He specialises in Defect Recognition and the Diagnosis of the Cause of Failure\, the interpretation of liability for such matters as building surveys\, dilapidations and service charge disputes. \nAlexandra Anderson \nAn insurance lawyer with considerable expertise in the construction and surveyor sectors. On the construction side\, Alexandra gets involved in complex and high-value disputes involving projects in the UK and worldwide\, predominantly acting for architects and engineers. \nEither via their insurers and upon direct instructions\, Alexandra regularly gets drafted in to act for surveyors on the defence of a wide variety of claims\, arising from all aspects of the typical surveying practice\, from survey and valuation to property management and receiverships. \nAlexandra is a regular speaker and author on a wide range of industry topics. He has 22 years of experience as a business rates consultant in private practice. Having previously worked for GL Hearn he has been involved with business rates appeals throughout the United Kingdom and in the Irish Republic. Prior to that\, he spent a short time working for the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). \nAndrew is an elected member of the Council of the Institute of Revenues\, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) its Junior Vice President\, Chairman of the Law and Research Committee and The Valuers Association. He is a Past President of the Rating Surveyors’ Association (RSA) and has served on the Committee of the RSA since 2008. Currently he is also one of the IRRV representatives on both the Professional Bodies Liaison Group and the Valuation Tribunal Users Group. He is also a member of the RICS Local Taxation and Policy Panel. \nHe has a particular interest in the out-of-town retail warehouses sector and is Chairman of Accessible Retail which represents the interests of landlords\, occupiers\, developers and investors in that sector. SITMA qualified Sound Insulation Tester. \nThe Building Regulations Part L set the energy efficiency standards for residential buildings. They are divided into part L1A\, which covers new build\, and part L1B\, which covers renovations to existing buildings. What they have in common is that they’re complicated and difficult to get to grips with. \n
